M:AT - Backpack vs. Flame King's Bad Stuff

In the first of a series of Munchkin: Adventure Time questions (and all in separate threads, as preferred):

Backpack prevents Bad Stuff from forcing you to discard cards from your hand.

Flame King's bad stuff forces you to discard all items you're using and all treasure cards in your hand.

So, do you lose Backpack first, then lose the treasure cards in your hand, *or* are the treasure cards in your hand protected by Backpack, *then* you lose Backpack?
