Half-Breed Q

1) Half Breed - If you are a half breed with 1 or 2 Race cards and you lose your Race card to a Curse or something, do you also discard the Half Breed card or does it stay in Play? Or can you pick it up (almost sure you can't pick it up)?
Also, if you have to discard your card AND can't pick it up, can you use the Transmogrification Card to pick it up during that Curse?
