Half-breed question

Hello!

Im confused about something. If i have an elf in play, and i use half breed to avoid the disadvantage of the elf but later i have a dward card, can i still use half breed to be a dwarf/elf if i previously used it just to avoid the disadvantage?

Also, is there any way just to discard classes and races cards from the hand if i dont want to have them in play?
