Hello again, everyone, and happy new year!
As I mentioned last time, I am trying to adapt Warhammer 40k to GURPS for a campaign I am planning. One thing I would like to have, though, is a really comprehensive random mutation table. So, if anyone has good online resources about this kind of thing, this stuff is more than welcome in this thread. However, one particular problem I wanted to deal with is more ridiculous mutations. I want, hopefully, to have a system where the table can easily suggest this and this kind of thing. I have some ideas more or less figured out in my head, but it would be nice if the system could suggest something like "The mutant grows 3 elephant trunks out of his forehead". Where the bolded parts are stuff that was rolled on the table. But it is kinda hard to find/make a body location table with this kind of detail. Worse yet, given the bizarre kinds of mutations that might show up, any table that detailed might be obsolete right out of the bat. Have any of you dealt with a similar problem? Has anyone seen any kind of random table that accounted for these 2 issues? Thanks in advance, guys! |

Looks a bit complicated for a standard d6 table; you may need make a table of mutations and then roll for quantity on anything that should have one.

Sure, sure, I didn't mean that I wanted it all to fit in a single table. In fact, the second part of my post concerns mostly how to make a sub-table pertaining body parts. Sorry for the confusion.

Using the hit location table for body parts would probably work.

Sure, but I kinda hoped for something a little more detailed.

Thanks! I don't mind the d10 at all (never liked using 3d6s for tables, actually) and this is exactly the kind of stuff I am looking for.

Another method is tp make your tables be d, d: so that 1, 2 is different from 2, 1.

In my Gamma World emulation campaign, I did the following:
Players were invited to build up to 100 points in mutant Powers, with the caveat that each 25 points worth incurred a roll on the mutation tables. In the end, I decided I would do the rolling because we were doing character creation remotely. These tables are not as specific as you're asking for, and leave room for interpretation of details. I decided that the work required to randomize a deeper level of detail was not worth it. Here are the tables: Hazard Table (Start here) (GM Roll 1d per 25 points in Powers Treat 2nd and further 5 rolls as 3; Treat 2nd and further 6 rolls as 4. Consult the following tables for results.) 1 No Effect 2 Limitation on a Power 3 Unnatural/Supernatural Feature 4 Unnatural Feature plus Hideous Appearance 5 Mental Disad 6 Physical Disad Power Limitations (Roll d10. Apply result to one applicable mutant ability of the players' choice. If no ability is applicable, GM will roll again.) 1 Unreliable (11 or less) 2 Recharge (Choose 5 minutes[-25%], or more) 3 Emergencies Only 4 Usually Off/On 5 Maximum Duration (Choose 1 hour or less) 6 Minimum Duration (GM-determined) 7 Uncontrollable 8 Limited Use (Choose) 9 Costs Fatigue (Choose Lvl) or Usually Off/On 10 All-out Unnatural Features (Roll d12; if the Hazard Table result was a 4, add 6) Player has the option of choosing a higher numbered item, except 18. Apply any resulting Disad rebate or Advantage cost arises.) 1 Unnatural Skin Colour 2 Taxonomy Add-on (e.g. Antennae, tail) 3 Fur 4 Unusual skin texture (partial) 5 Unusual skin texture (Full) 6 Extra Digits 7 Scales or Chitin (Partial) 8 Scales or Chitin (Full) 9 Replacement Taxonomy (e.g. head of a dog, goat legs) 10 Spines (Partial) 11 Spines (Full) 12 Extra Eye(s) 13 Extra Nose(s) 14 Extra Mouth(s) 15 Extra Limb or Member 16 Extra Head 17 Odd-formed/placed members/limbs (e.g. oversize, undersize, backward, wrong place …) 18 Choose 2 of items 1-6 Mutant Disads ("Mental") (GM will roll D35 Contextually inappropriate results (in GMs judgment) will be re-rolled.) 1 Berserk 2 Cannot Learn 3 Chronic Depression 4 Gregarius 5 Clueless 6 Confused 7 Combat Paralysis 8 Decreased: ??? 9 Delusions 10 Dyslexia 11 Fearfulness (Min Lvl 3) 12 Easy to Read 13 Gullible 14 Hidebound 15 Impulsive 16 Indecisive 17 Innumerate 18 Insomniac 19 Killjoy 20 Low Empathy 21 Low Self-Image 22 Lunacy 23 Manic-Depressive 24 Megalomania 25 No sense of humour 26 Non-Iconographic 27 On the edge 28 Pacifism 29 Paranoia 30 Sadism 31 Selfish 32 Selfless 33 Slave mentality 34 Short Attention Span 35 Phobias Mutant Disads (Physical) (GM will roll D44 Contextually inappropriate results (in GMs judgment) will be re-rolled.) 1 One Hand 2 One Eye 3 One Arm 4 One Leg 5 No fine manipulators 6 No Manipulators 7 Fragile 8 Bad Smell 9 Deafness 10 Cannot speak 11 Chronic pain 12 Cold blooded 13 Dependency: ??? 14 Disturbing Voice 15 Dwarfism 16 Epilepsy 17 Fat/Very Fat 18 Frightens Animals/Dread 19 Gigantism 20 Hard of Hearing 21 Hemophilia 22 Hunchback 23 Increased Consumption 24 Invertebrate 25 Lame 26 Low Pain Threshold 27 Mute 28 Neuro Disorder 29 Night Blindness 30 Extra Sleep/Sleepy/Slow Riser 31 No Depth Perception 32 Nocturnal 33 Noisy 34 Numb 35 Restricted Diet 36 Revulsion 37 Semi-Upright 38 Skinny 39 Slow eater 40 Unfit/V. There was an expanded New Body Parts table for Gamma World in Dragon Magazine back in the 1985-90 range. I don't know if it can be located...
