Blending with Munchkin Pathfinder

I just got Munchkin Pathfinder, and I was really blown away.
However, there was one problem with combining Pathfinder with other existing sets: The Factions.
Can I consider Factions and Races as the same thing, or should I consider them as their own individual types of cards?
