Thanks everyone. I really appreciate the different ideas. I'm going to adjust the Ally with Selective Area (a solution that never occurred to me, thanks!). I won't specify who is protected, but rather note that the Ally will act according to its understanding of the situation. If that means that it occasionally blasts the good guys, well, that's what Fearlessness and Will are for.

I'm glad that OP chose a solution that involved limiting the effects of the Ally's Terror instead of the character's susceptibility to it. Buying immunity of any kind seems to overlook the equally serious problem of not wailing every other person the Ally encounters with a Fright Check. Having an Ally with unmodified Terror showing up every so often would be a downright liability in most campaigns even if your own character is immune.
