Default Targeted Attack - One Limb or Both?

Title basically says it all.

When you take the Targeted Attack technique (from MA, but also Tactical Shooting, and several others), you must specify a hit location. Do you need to indicate a specific limb (e.g., Right Arm or Left Leg... or perhaps Near Arm or Far Leg), or can you just say a type of limb (e.g., Arms or Legs) and be able to attack right or left, near or far, with the same technique?

No need to, you can target both.

The default GURPS combat rules assume a equally presented stance suitable for sword and board so both limbs are the same difficulty in hitting.

There are optional rules for a more fencing stance of a presented side that chances that, but Targeted Attacks do not preferance one over the other.

Sword and board gives -4 to hit the arm holding the shield.

But that is a modifier for the equipment not the stance. as most of the arm is directly covered. as such would stack with Technique.

You do not need to specify which limb (or which eye, for that matter) for Targeted Attack.

However, on a related note, targeting a specific Vital is -5 instead of -3. This only matters (say) when fighting a vampire with a steak, but still.

I think the -5 for Heart is a specific case. PS I'd recommend T-Bone but, really, a pointy stick is handier:D
