Default Automatic lose question

If a card sais, "You automatically lose if...", the card in question being the Basket of Ferns, does the lose refer to the combat or the combat and die roll? If it is a failed die roll, does that mean that it's just for the basket of ferns or is it for all monsters in combat?

Thanks, Banban

Losing is being beaten by the monsters and happens before you Run Away. So the Basket of Ferns is only referring to the combat. Thus, you will still normally roll normally to escape the monster/s.

Also worth noting: Even though your combat strength is almost certainly higher than a Basket of Ferns, you're losing the combat if you're fighting alone, so you are eligible to ask for a helper at that time.
