Default Putting "extra" one-shot Items into play

Can we put down sideways on the table the cards that give + to either side, like potions, etc as long as they have a money value (even if it's No Value printed on the card) or those types of cards have to stay in the hand?

I think that's all... and it's a lot of questions :p Sorry for the long post but I could use your help to clarify these things...

Thanks in advance

One-shot Items (those that say "usable once only") are still Items (exactly because of the gold piece value), and have no restrictions about being carried (i.e., put into play on the table). In fact, the rules say that you can use such Items directly from your hand, or from those Items you are carrying. There is some argument as to whether they must be turned sideways or not, but Andrew and I agree (and we're fairly certain Steve does, too) that the one-shot Items you have in play don't have to be turned sideways, but it's not going to break the game if you do so.

As you can see, I broke your questions up into separate threads. In the future, please try to keep it to one question per thread, or maybe two or three related questions per thread. Also, try to make the thread titles more meaningful to the question asked. Those two things make it so much easier for fellow forumites trying to search for answers to find them.

Thanks for the reply and sorry for the "to many questions in one topic" :)
