Pretty much. There was one Green Berret assigned to tribal diplomacy among the Montagnards. One of the the first things they asked him was to kill a tiger that had been bothering them. So he hitched a ride on a heliocopter and hunted it down, the tiger presumably not knowing what a heliocopter is or that it had a Green Berret in it. After that they spent their time feasting on the tiger, the Montagnards being poor and practical folk.
Humans optimize toward the offensive. Their chief way to defend against a threat is to remove it.
