I used to be that way.
Once my gunnery skills started getting better, the lighter weapons of the early planes stopped being as bad a liability. And I find that I prefer a steady plane with a bit less manuverability than an extremely manuverable one that is twitchy. And it is VERY fun to shoot down Zeros from a Gladiator. Oh, some I-153 have powered gear. There is a guy in New Zealand with two that have powered gear. He claimed that they came that way.
