I got delayed by another project, but here you go:
ETA: [11 June 2013] Should be a x86 version and a x64 version now Current Version: 0.7.1.3 (rc1) http://higarashi.big-metto.net/uploa...gation_x86.zip http://higarashi.big-metto.net/uploa...gation_x64.zip DISCLAIMER: GURPS Space is a trademark of Steve Jackson Games, and its rules and art are copyrighted by Steve Jackson Games. All rights are reserved by Steve Jackson Games. This game aid is the original creation of Nakawaros and is released for free distribution, and not for resale, under the permissions granted in the <a href="http://www.sjgames.com/general/online_policy.html">Steve Jackson Games Online Policy</a>. This is a beta version (there's some features missing, the UI needs work, and I still need to do some code improvements.), but it will generate a complete system. Tell me if you see anything amiss, or features you'd like to see. (Side note: I use some derived features for some of the things, if that should be changed back to the table, feel free to tell me. I'll get on it when I have some spare time.) ETA: Moved the file to a non version, so that it's always a current link. ETA: Now it also is aimed at a .zip rather than .exe Last edited by Nakawaros; 11-02-2013 at 01:00 PM. Reason: updating version |

It generates stars only when I run it. -_-
(I'm actually looking for a nice program that allows creating and editing realistic star system, planet by planet. Not necessarily GURPS as long as it provides all the important data.) |

The planet editing ability is upcoming. I wanted to test out the generation first - as for pregenerating, I'll consider it.

ALSO: I do plan on replacing the dice rolls with the probablity curve Brett mentioned. It seems to be nicer. I just need to figure out how to.

Wow I was ninjad. I'm halfway through a very similar project. Mine's a little more graphical, though I suspect that can be easily fixed on this project.
Do you mind if I ask for the source code?

Sure. It's in c#, and the code is here:
https://github.com/KoihimeNakamura/CelestialNavigation (master branch) If you have any improvements, feel free to commit them back (I may need to add you as a repository person though. I'm kinda new to GitHub) |

Cool! I may look into this myself; I have an unfinished Java star system creator lying around, though I only got as far as making a graphical image for the star system.

So, just as a note. I started this in Java and moved over to C#. It took quite a bit of time to relearn a few things.

Yeah, Windows Forms was easier for me than trying to learn swing.
As for the half-finished, the master branch contains 0.4.3 as of the most recent commit. I was planning on a new UI and adding some planned features, but that needs some planning. 0.4.3 was really kind of a "push out what I have, see if there's any bugs in the base generation I'm missing, then improve it." ETA: Hum. Something's off about that last commit. I'm missing some objects. One sec. |
