Does the stygian girle make you immune to all bad stuff? Or just "lose a level" bad stuff?

Hmmm. . . I'm going to say that only Curses and Bad Stuff that would make you lose a Level, but I'll want Andrew to confirm on that one.

We had the same question this weekend. Our interpretation was that it only ignored the 'lose a level' protion of both curses and Bad Stuff. Anything else would take effect. i.e. "Lose a level and your race" would just lose their race. Looking forward to the ruling on this one.

Follow-up question based on a game we played today:

Does Stygian Girdle make you immune to curses and bad stuff that would make you lose more than 1 level, or should we interpret the quotes to mean that you are only immune to it if it says "Lose a level"?

The intent is that you cannot lose levels to Curses or Bad Stuff. The phrasing could have been improved.

I was about to mosey on to the next thread, when the word Orc popped into my head.

Do Orcs lose a level 'to a curse' or 'to their racial ability' if they choose to nullify an incoming curse?

An Orc wearing the Stygian Girdle might have different strategy than one without, depending on the answer to that.

It's the race ability that causes it, so the girdle shouldn't matter for that one

That's how I would bet too, however it does matter some, as a rare curse which might cause the loss of two levels is now a poor target for 'eating', where without girdle it would be a good one.

'Tisn't -as- awesome on an Orc as it could have been, but that is probably just as well.
