Morph with Unlimited, and items above your TL

Can you use Morph with Unlimited, which lets you take on the template of even a machine, to become a machine from a TL higher than your personal TL? If so, what considerations (such as skills and so on) should you be worried about? And if not, what should you do to be able to do so?

You would also need improvised forms. On it's own, morph lets you copy the racial template of anything you can see, so if the tech doesn't exist yet, you need the ability to make it up yourself.
The GM might also require you to do an appropriate Engineer roll as if you were inventing.

You may also want a type of gadgeteer with "Only for inventing new forms with morph -X%"

Thanks, I was actually thinking of something more along this example. You are a TL3 mage with Morph (Unlimited), and you see a TL8 device. Assuming you don't violate the other aspect of Morph (you can't become more expensive), can you become that TL8 device?

Does the item work? If it does, how would a TL3 person know how a TL8 item works? If you just assume the form and not the function then I see no problem. At least, not until someone who knows how to use the real thing tries to use you.

I don't see any issue with that. Morph starts off fairly expensive and you'll probably be adding several enhancements to do that aside from the fact that your TL3 guy will need access to TL8 stuff (which at that point, why does he need to morph into it, since it's available for use). You can assess TL penalties for him or other TL3 characters to use it (provided they have Low TL or no familiarity) as well to keep it balanced.

Absolutely. TL isn't an issue, if your Morph template can handle the point cost, you should be fine.

If the device has active memory that's important, you may have issues. If you copy a computer, you may have access to it's bios and hardwired systems, but not necessarily all the media and downloaded programs... You copy the factory template, not the memories of your subject.

And being a neuro-transducer is one thing, operating it is another entirely...

Remember that a gun costs a point or two if purchased as Signature Gear, but much more than that as an Innate Attack.
