You pay points for a Wealth Level, which with standard wealth has a clearly defined multiplier. Gaining significant further multipliers of wealth without paying points doesn't work for me.
If you paid [20] points to be Wealthy and have x5 wealth, then you have x5 the amount of money, credit, etc as the Average guy who paid 0 points towards wealth.

Actually, No.
Independent Income is always 1% of Personal Starting Wealth per Point, clearly following the basic wealth multiplier.
Job Income is defined by TL, and is multiplied by Wealth Level (assuming you have a job appropriate to your wealth level).
If you have Status equivalent to your Wealth (Average=0, Comfortable=1, Wealthy=2), then for all TLs and Wealth Levels/Status*:
Job Income After Cost Of Living = 10% of Personal Starting Wealth

Again, following the basic wealthg multiplier.

*Cost of Living for Status -2 needs to be adjusted to $120.

So all Wealth related rules and mechanics do scale directly with the base wealth multiplier for which you've paid points.
