Anthony Join Date: Feb 2005 Location: Berkeley, CA	Re: Low/High-Tech Military Air Guns The main reason we use explosives is energy density; an airgun with the energy of a conventional rifle will be at about 1/4 the speed, 4x the recoil, and 20x the weight per shot (including tank weight on the airgun, and case/propellant weight for the conventional gun).
