Gregor and minions

Okay I think I know the answer to this but would like to get a ruling on possible intent.

If I'm fighting Gregor from Bites! and have a minion do I get to count my minions bonus considering it isn't an item or is the intent of Gregor that I use nothing I possess including minions.

It came up in a recent game and on the spot it was ruled that Gregor didn't affect minions since they aren't items but I promised to ask here for the player that actually encountered Gregor.
