Default Same Skill, Different TL

Is there an easy way to have different versions of the same skill for different TLs? I've been able to do it by renaming different versions of the skill; for example, in a default TL8 game having Physician TL8, Physician2 TL7, etc. But then I have to revise the skills to do defaults to each other. With a multi-TL character with lots of skills, that can take a significant amount of time to set up.

Duplicate Selected doesn't work? I think you might have to edit in the defaults though.

In the most current version of GCA4 you can use Duplicate to dup a skill. The problem is that if you have the same skill twice under the same name, you can't do the defaults. You can't default Physician to Physician.

You can have Physician at TL8 then name Physician TL7 as Physician2 or PhysicianTL7 or whatever. But you have to manually rewrite the defaults.

Actually, it should work without you having to do anything at all.

Using your example, I just added a Physician (Human) skill at TL8 to a new character, added 12pts to raise it to level 12, then Duped it, Edited to just change the TL to 7 and the points to 0, and the default automatically came from Physician (Human)/TL8 to make it level 11. If I then change the TL to 7 it drops to a default of 9, etc. You can even raise levels from the default.

The code is in there to support cross-TL defaults from identical TL skills that differ only in the given TL. You shouldn't have to do anything fancy at all, including editing defaults. Just make sure that the skills are identically named but with different TLs.

Excellent! I had mentioned this quite a while back to either you or Eric and was told you might be working on it. Apparently the function got added in an update and I missed it. I just tried it on both a brand new character and one last modified four years ago and on both it worked just fine. Thanks a bunch!
