A few questions about munchkin...

1. Selling/stealing
You can sell them from your hand and once you start selling, nobody can stop you until you have finished. There is no necessity to play them to the table first, so no chance to steal stuff.

2. Kicking the Door
Yes, that is a face-up draw and is one of the best ways to utilise the ability.

3. "In response"
There is no stack, nor 'in response' in Munchkin. Once an action starts, it must be completed before you take the next action, such as playing a card. Thus, once the Thief discards his card in payment for the backstab, the target Munchkin is backstabbed.
