1. Defensive imbuements (Pyramid 3-4) should suffice but they are much more effective. Though you may combine all DR-improving skills into one with only 10% effectiveness.

Possible advantage build: DR with Affect others, Area Effect, Force Field, No Signature and capped with maximum available DR increase and some discount like -50-60% for only applying while in vehicle and variability depending on actual vehicle.

2. Far shot from Power Ups 1 may suffice. Again, combine it for all possible Artillery/Gunner/Liquid Projector specialties but with only 10% effectiveness.

Possible advantage build is via Modifying Existing Damage, Other Weapons from Power-Ups 4, p. 11.

Though Imbuements burn FP quickly so your characters might have a lot of ER as well.
