I'm not sure what variety of critters this game is planning to put in the opposition, but lots of serious monsters are vulnerable to firepower. They don't need to be invulnerable, just sufficiently tough that their normal encounters don't kill them. A PC warband with enough gear to knock over a banana republic is way outside the usual threat profile. Just from Lovecraft, the Deep Ones are fully vulnerable to weaponry, they just tend to outnumber you. Shoggoths are tough (and big), but a flamethrower would probably make an impression. Ghouls, easy. Haunter in the Dark you could probably do a number on with spotlights, but bullets might work too. Cultists, of course, are vulnerable to gunfire, though you may need some sort of cover-up to avoid being charged with mass murder. Trying to gun down Nyarlathotep or Cthulhu is unlikely to end well, and conventional weapons probably couldn't do anything to the Color out of Space, but most monsters? If they're not killed with firepower it's because nobody had the opportunity, not because it wouldn't work. Quote:
