Default Magnificent Hat iten with Everything is Relative curse

I was playing a game of regular Munchkin (not a special edition like Cthulhu or Star for instance) and an interesting thing happened.

Player 6 is wearing the Magnificent Hat, which "reflects Curses. Any curse you draw, or that someone else plays on you, is reflected randomly. Each other player rolls a die; the low roller is cursed."

Player 3 had kicked down a door to unveil the Everything is Relative curse card: "Everyone else does DOWN a level. Whoops, this isn't really a curse on you at all, is it? Too bad. Any player who has a way to avoid Traps or Curses may use it to avoid this one...but for himself only."

So, here's my question. Once the curse hits Player 6, each other player, including Player 3 would have to roll to see if they get hit with the Everything is Relative curse. This would then cause which ever player that is to avoid losing a level and yet again cause everyone else to lose a level, but that would mean that the curse hits Player 6 again. Clearly, this causes a loop such that any player other than the one wearing the Magnificent Hat to go back to level 1... or does it?

I would say the Magnificent Hat reflects the effect if the curse only, causing the low roller to lose the level that the wearer would have lost.

Everyone but player-3 and player-6 would lose one level from the curse.
Then everyone but player-6 would roll to see if they lose the level that player-6 reflects, meaning that someone could potentially lose two levels.

Ah, that does make sense.

Thank you both so much!

this is the post I found it in. it says that it is quoting you although it is not a linked quote so may not actually be your words. I did do a google search based on the words and it came up with a link to the yahoo group which I was not able to access as I am not a member of the group.

That's a direct quote from the post in question.
