Default TGTBTM Sheriff's Badge and Death

I have searched the FAQ and forums, and do not locate answers tot these questions. Sorry in advanced if I missed them.

Game situation: In a game of TGTBTM, I have the Sheriff's Badge and am at Level 9, and entering combat. Other players players cards to where I alone cannot defeat the monster for the win. I want to use the Sheriff's Badge ability to force one of players wearing the Deputy's Badge to help me to win the combat and thus the game.

Two questions:

1) Since it is not the deputy's turn, he cannot discard the Deputy's Badge or "un-wear" it to avoid helping me, correct? [Since it is not his turn, he cannot change his equipment being used.] (Answer taken based on previous thread here. and here)

2) Once I force the deputy to help me, the deputy says "I declare my munchkin character dead." Is this legal? Can you declare yourself dead to avoid helping someone, or simply to get a new hand of cards on your next turn?

Thank you!

Correct.

Absolutely not. I defy him to find this ability anywhere in the rules.

1) That is correct.
2) No. Rules are rules and cards sometimes bend rules, but unless you make that a house rule, there's nothing like that. If that were the case, there would be no use for the Sheriff and Deputy Badges in the first place.

Either the deputy is more used to Munchkin Quest, where that is a rule, or they are a rather poor sport. In any case, I agree with the responses. You can not just declare yourself dead in any form of the Munchkin card game.

That is only a rule you may use on your own turn, so even if the aforementioned Deputy was so confused, I'm sure that someone could grab THAT rulebook and show it to him.

Regardless, Munchkin has no such rule, and, quite honestly, I believe players like that really need to learn that sometimes, life isn't always about them getting their way.

Thanks for the answer!

In all fairness, the comment was made by a 10yr old, so it did not surprise me. But the idea of voluntary death came from his older brother, who has played Munchkin Quest, which is why I was unsure..
