Hi,
I hope this hasn't been asked too often before, but I couldn't find anything useful so far. Trying to help one of my players to plan a little with his character. What he wants is to gain some supernatural abilities by calling his deity/or rather an elemental spirit. What do I use for this ? I guess he explicitly requested that he calls his spirit for help which will then appear and empower him with certain abilities. Power investure would make him a mage that casts spells granted by the deity/god. But it would not call the deity/spirit to the battlefield/location where he is right now. Patron would, I think, call the deity/spirit to him thus he prayed for things to happen and intervene on the players behalf and do a wide variety of things. The deity he calls is actually not that powerful since its "only" the elemental spirit servant of a godlike being. So it's basically as if he was calling for an angels help to appear next to him and grant him some powers. Also if we would take power investure, would it be appropriate to include some limitations to it ? Like it costs fatigue to activate power investure, which honestly sounds a little weird to me. Or maybe that the activation also brings a negative effect with it or it takes longer time to activate it and thus the spells casted via power investure would take longer to be cast. Thanks in advance, I hope I don't make you too much trouble. |

For the mechanic of calling for aid from his Patron, but having it manifest as "spells" rather than a being showing up to directly assist him, you should check out Powers: Divine Favor. This gives him a Patron advantage which he can call on for miraculous intervention, and the option to gain blessings as Alternate Abilities which he can use at will.
