Default Crossover Campaigns

Well I think someone once posted stats for ships like the Reimagined series of Battlestar Galactica like the Galactica, Pegasus, MK II and MK VII Vipers, Raptor and various basic model Civilian ships plus ships from Stargate's series like SG-1; Atlantis; and yes Universe such as the Prometheus-Class, the Daedalus-Class, Ha'Taks, Al'Keshes, Tal'Taks, Asgard ships, and Ancients/ Alteran ships.

I am working on a crossover campaign for GURPS either 3rd Ed or 4th Ed. I don't have Vehicles for 4th Ed yet, but do have most of the 3rd Ed books. I was wondering just what the mechanics of the ships should be. With 4th Ed for small arms and crew served weapons I can just use the basic ones in the characters and campaigns books. I had tried to develop ships using 4th Ed's Interstellar Wars, but the larger Colonial ships are outside the tables of the ship building rules. I can build a variation of the Prometheus and Daedulas class ships as a Daedalus can be built on a 100,000 dton hull and the Prometheus can be built on a 50,000 or 75,000 dton hull. Actually I've built a decent ship representation of the Daedalus on the 75,000 dton hull.

The Galactica, Pegasus, and Valkyrie class ships of BSG: 2003 are all over 1,000,000 dtons according to doing the math to get the volume of each. The 4th Ed Traveller: Interstellar Wars hull chart stops at 100,000 dtons without adjustments for larger sizes in the text.

Also the Colonial Fleet ships use Coilguns which according to my research are cannon sized guassguns rough similar in caliber to the mainguns of a WW-2 battleship like the Iowa-Class or the Yamato-Class, and the Stargate Command ships use railguns roughly the same caliber as the GAU-8 or the M242 Bushmaster. I am just wondering what would be good stats for these weapons as I can use IW's plasma cannons for the Ha'Tak and Asgard plasma weapons and heavy missile bays for the missile tube systems of the Battlestars, Basestars, Deep Space Cruisers, and Battlescruisers.

The Vipers can be built on 10 dton hulls and the Raptor can be built on a 20 dton hull though it is much larger than needed. Now Raiders, Heavy Raiders, Deathgliders, and F-302s are my bane as Raiders, Deathgliders and 302s are bigger than 10dtons and a Heavy Raider is bigger than 20 dtons.

Moderators: if need to move this to the Traveller's threads that's ok, but I would like the ordinary GURPS players to give me advice too as I am not playing this campaign as a BSG: 2003 and Stargate universe crossover instead of a crossover with the Traveller universe. I just use the ship building rules because they are what I have.

Dont see why this would be in Traveler as its not that universe.
All the ships mentioned have way better FTL.
I would be cutrious abotu some of the SG writeups myself. Seen BSG.
By he way there is no 4th edition Vehicles yet.

What I need are design mechanics to design the ships out for gaming purposes. The Trav IW rules are the only 4th Ed rules I have on hand at the moment.

But they do have a Spaceships series. silke_rahn, if you weren't aware of the GURPS Spaceships line, you'll to at least want to check it out.

,,,,and Spaceships can handle very large ships indeed. The table goes up to SM+15 but can be expanded beyond that by simple, logical progression to handle even bigger ships.

Since the 8,000,000 tons (mass rather than dispacement) Superdreadnaughts from the Honor Harrington universe only require SM+16 this probably won't be necessary too often.

As to BSG v. SG-1, a 304 with only human weaponry would be a close match offensively with a Colonial Battlestar as both are TL9-10 but the SG-1 ship has TL11 Force Shields along with much better propulsion. An upgraded 304 with Asgard weaponry is hitting TL11-12.

A lot of crossover questions like this turn into mis-matches once you go into hard details like Gurps TLs. No two series I can think of off-hand use really compatible TLs though soem like B-5 and BSG might come close _until_ the humans start using Minbari and Vorlon spin-off tech. That'sa big "until" though.

I did do the math on the Stargate Earth spaceships and an F-302 comes out to be just short of 20Dtons. I think it was like 19.something, but I rounded up to fit the chart. A BSG: 2003 Viper Mk VII comes out to be just over 10dtons and a Mk II comes out at just under. A Raptor maths out at just over 20Dtons for volume. The trouble comes with the use of an FTL system. I think that when I can get a hold of the PDF for Spaceships and the later expansion-catalogs I can come up with a means of giving F-302s, Raptors, and both styles of Raiders their FTL capabilities. The Vipers aren't FTL ships, but the Blackbird and earlier Stealthstars were.

In most of the fanfiction.net stories I've read concerning BSG: 2003/ Stargate crossovers the writers used the fiat that the Colonial and Cylon jump drives were primitive versions of the Ancient/ Alteran Wormhole Drives. This crossover could work if I switch to the older Third Edition GURPS, but I think I can work it out in 4th Ed once I get copies of Spaceships and its suppliments.

For clearification when I get this campaign up it will be set post Stargate: Universe, but before Battlestar Galactica (The Reimagined Series)'s fourth season. In my fanfiction timeline there has already been contact between the Colonies and Earth on Kobol. In this Timeline Adama and Cain already knew about Kobol and about Earth. Most of the Colonial civilians and many in the Colonial Government were kept in the dark. Similarily until after Anubis' attack on Earth in the SG: SG-1 episodes Lost City pts 1, 2, & 3 Earth kept the Colonials a secret until Cain's Battlestar Group assisted in Earth's defense at great cost in ships and people. In my storyline and subsequent game timeline Earth's disclosure of the Stargate and mutliple first contacts through it happen at the beginning of what would be the time when Weir ran the SGC. My game will start actually right after the first episode of SG: Universe and the beginning of the Miniseries for BSG: 2003.

That leaves me with a free hand on the Stargate side and an opportunity to alter the results of the Battlestar Galactica side of the crossover. Daybreak may or may not happen. But when Roslin confronts Adama about knowing where Earth is he will introduce her to Colonel Carter.
