Hey all
Kind of a silly question, but how do you store your Munchkin cards? Personally, I've done it three ways. The first was to group them together in the original Munchkin box, with a divider between the Door and Treasure cards - each of those grouping consisting of three piles, two set vertically and one at the bottom set horizontally - that had a square space between the sections to hold a bunch of d10s and two d6s. This was pretty good, but I had to overlap some door cars into the treasures in order to make them fit, and the cards would often shift around when transporting the box. The second was to use the Munchkin Boxes of Holding. This solved a lot of problems - I could put all the cards in the appropriate boxes, and there was enough room in the Treasures box where I could put the d6s and d10s - but created new ones since I didn't have everything in a single box. Finally, when I saw Munchkin Deluxe, I fell in love - a huge box, a board with levels and spaces for the decks, and 6 munchkin pawns, plus the original set in full color!? I got it on my birthday, and immediately started modding it by using a few pieces of foam board. Here's the result. What's contained within is: Munchkin, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, Fairy Dust, Munchkinomicon, Waiting For Santa, Santa's Revenge, Reindeer Games, Conan, Reloaded, Monster Enhancers, Marked For Death, 1 of every Promo, Warehouse23 Packs '10 and '11, 6 male Pawns, 1 normal Munchkin d6, and the Gameboard. What's been added since I took the picture that also fits are: 2 Sparkly Pink Dice, 3 Jolly Jumbo D6s (Red, Green, and Clear), all 6 pairs of Jumbo D6s, and 6 female Pawns. I no longer keep any d10s or regular d6s in the box, since the Gameboard and official d6s handle all that. Each square space in the middle contains: 2 pairs of the Jumbo D6s (Red & Orange, Yellow & Green, Blue and Purple), while the three Jolly Jumbo D6s are kept in the last space with the Sparkly Fairy D6s and normal Munchkin d6, and each pair of Pawns are kept with their corresponding Jumbo D6s (Red & Orange Male & Female Pawns with the Red & Orange dice, etc.). The beauty of it all is that the box top still fits as tightly as it originally did, even when the gameboard is laid on top of the foam spacers; even after 8 comes out, there's enough room in each space so that adding those cards won't stop the box from closing perfectly. I do own Demented Dungeons, but my group rarely uses it, and with the shear size of the cardpool, 16 Portal cards is just not enough to make it really interesting, so 6 remains in its original box all by itself. Anyway, that's my little kit-bashing rant. How does everyone else store all their cards? Last edited by emillang1000; 12-16-2011 at 02:38 AM. |

Quote:
- two gameboards - seven Kill-O-Meters (six players and one monster side) - Munchkin Dice Bag (with +10d6, +6d6, Fairy Dust Dice, Jumbos, Jolly Jumbos, and both custom Duck of Earl dice* - the small 'all ones' and the big 'd6+6') - small bag containing male and female pawns - Munchkinomicon, Fairy Dust, gender, Reversal of Fortune, and sepia-toned Elf cards - both USB drives - the authorized Q-Workshop dice - rule cards for the assorted knickknacks - promo cards usable at the start of the game - birthday card and a couple of bookmarks If the box was a little bigger - say, MQ-sized - I'd also throw my bag of counters and master rulebook inside. However, the 10" inner dimensions keep the rulebook firmly outside - and even so, repacking the box Just Right at the end of the night is a challenge. For instance, the smaller Munchkin-head dice have to be stored in a separate baggie for the lid to fit, because the box is too slim for a layer of standard dice on top of a layer of Jumbo dice inside the bag. Keep in mind, though, that I have to pack densely rather than lightly when going to conventions. The fewer totes and big boxes I have to move around, the better...but most people's mileage varies. * Note to newcomers - the "Duck of Earl dice" aren't SJ Games products. Some of us here got together, designed very geeky custom dice with lots of math, and got Chessex to manufacture a small batch precisely to order. Last edited by RevBob; 12-16-2011 at 03:38 AM. |

I use those white cardboard boxes that you can buy at hobby and card collecting shops. Not as pretty as a Sammlerbox, but not nearly as expensive either.

I do the same, I have a 5000 card box that I keep all my sets, expansions and other cards in. Then I have a seperate box for my assorted goodies, like KOM, dice, pawns, etc.
