Well, the DM had ruled that attempted slavery was 'attempting serious harm', so the character could defend herself with lethal force (which she did)
However, some of the slavers failed unconsciousness checks in the process and thus became captured . . . she wasn't specifically trying to capture them A slaver who is being busy lieing unconscious in a heap of their own blood is not attempting serious harm, so thus is not killable by someone with CHI The character was busy going from A to B, having been dispatched to go clear out monsters that were hanging out at B, as she is flying along she notices a group approaching her, so she goes to see what their up to . . . . upon closing they ready nets, bolas, and electro staves and move to engage (the player then consults the DM, by the players understanding the proper approach is to use nonlethal force as the enemy is using nonlethal force, by CHI. The DM interprets that slavery is 'serious harm' and thus lethal force is good) Quick scuffle, character is mildly scorched and her hair is messed up from an electro staff hit, slavers are all either dead or captured (well, I would consider unconscious to be a form of captured?) Now, I will admit that as a player failing the idea of disengaging and fleeing the enemy never even so much as crossed my mind, even though recent experiences had left in games had left me truly fearful of GURPS bolas . . . I certainly expected it to be a VERY rough fight instead of 1 sided affair |
