As the GM for this endeavor Kal and I seem to have had a misunderstanding; the person who catches slavers turn them over to the state and the state then makes a big publication about executing them. (EDIT: Of course if you happen to kill them beforehand no one is going to grieve very much about it to start out with.)
The royal family has had problems with slavers before and after mounting a rescue mission Daddy (who is thoroughly ****** off because some of his neighbors think Columbian style hostage taking or what have you is good negotiations) made it the law that all people caught taking slaves in his territories will be summarily executed in whichever creative manner he can come up with. Thus setting a nice example of DFWM (Don't F*ck With Me) to all folks who'd like to try it. Unfortunately I didn't explain that very well to Kal in game, then again it didn't come up until discussions after the game either. I blame extremely late nights. EDIT: I also must agree with Lord Carnifex, in medieval and similar times nobles and freemen were often encouraged to have summary justice. Most places didn't even have facilities to store prisoners, much less a jail. (Low Tech .... 3 I believe has a section on prisons and prisoners and conditions?) And I personally detest the Honesty disadvantage, it's a crap shoot of stupidity in writing. Its very ambiguous and not worth nearly as many points as it should be if its used as written. I'm thinking of flat out disallowing it in any future games I run. >.< Last edited by Godogma; 11-13-2011 at 10:13 PM. Reason: More info |
