I'd actually grant an extra CP for good roleplaying, if the player gave a good display of his conflicted emotions and came to a conclusion that seems convincing and satisfying.
I'd not grant the CP if I was under the impression that the player was using his character's conflict as a vehicle to hug the spotlight. I'd only dock CP if I got the impression he didn't care about the conflict.
