D&D Third and Fourth Edition both allow a type of combat move called a "step," which moves you one square but doesn't count as a move action. So this is a step-and-a-half, which is half a step better.

If you'd prefer, it's a musical joke about a minor third interval, but I don't think that's what was intended.

A "step-and-a-half" implies a little more effort than just a single step. Like you should always take a step-and-a-half back to survey a situation first.
In this case, the monster probably took the extra half-step to catch and eat you.

OK, now I get where the term comes from. I'm still not clear how that term is related to changing the Monster's bad stuff in that way. With a name like that, I might expect the card to give some kind of combat advantage, or some kind of Run Away bonus.

Ah well, I don't have to "get" it to like the card. :-D

I didn't get the joke so I made my own.
I think I like mine better.

WAIT!

I don't think I am allowed to link to custom cards even if the custom card has the same info as a public card like the promo cards..

...maybe.. no- better stay safe.

Sorry I took down the URL.

If anyone wants to see my custom cards of promo cards (they are the same just with a small cute twist which I really like) PM me. :)

Unless that's not allowed then DON'T PM me now way!

I'm going from a memory here, and I can't remember if it was confirmed, but I do believe it's a combined reference, which includes the "step" in later editions of D&D, and an actual snake (many-banded krait) so poisonous it's nicknamed the "two step" because after you're bitten, you're dead by the time you've walked two steps (hyperbole, to be clear). This card would essentially make one Monster even deadlier still. . .

On a related note, can you play Step-and-a-Half after a munchkin has failed his/her roll to escape?
