The point being because IMHO unless you're given a structured fighting training, or you come to realize it on your own, you can tend to consider different weapon skills as distinct from one another.
Balance-wise, this is a major change, and so I feel that it needs some limits. Remember, you buy up shortsword to broadsword, and get to feint/DWA/etc as well with either weapon. It is potent, and thematically, it's not for your average joe, it's for your dedicated martial artist.
