Then if one is in the area & makes a dodge roll then they take no damage?
If so then it's x3 sure. If not I'd like to see where RPK says it's x3.

It is also that it is resisted by DR.

No. If its an external attack, that can be dodged and resisted by DR it gets the *3. And you are fully allowed to dodge area attacks. You might not be able to leave the area, get to cover or have it reduce the damage, but you can dodge them.

That is why you don't shoot an area bullet at the vampire but near him.
