Default nanostasis - corpse or statue?

As a spacesaving way to transport passengers, nanostassis sounds good. Slightly expensive though. But what would your passengers be like?
if your ship crashes in a 3rd wave zone and they don't know what nanostasis is - are you carrying a bunch of corpses or very lifelike statues?

They'd be like those creepy silicone dolls certain gents (with odd tastes) seem to like. They'd feel like human bodies, except they'll be cool to the touch because they'll be at room tempeture. Further point, they'll be in secure containers so that insects, small rodents, molds, and fungi, don't nibble on them! So you won't get to touch them.

And here I was thinking cardboard boxes and packing peanuts; seriously. One nanostasis module at departure and arrival point, reusable materials, reduced costs...

Perfect for a silly THS game!

Contains: 1 human in nanostasis, 10^6 antique Styrofoam packing peanuts. Do not fold, spindle, or mutilate. Some assembly may be required.

Somewhere in these forums a mention was made of a interstellar campaign that had STL travel. The campaign started with the characters who came from a wide range of places and times all being revived in the lost luggage area of a space station.

Just the described procedure would get you an undecaying, freshly cooled corpse presentation that would become somewhat dryer as surface moisture cured out, but I could see a protective encapsulation and/or stiffeners being offered as add-ons. You would absolutely want something to keep your eyes and other exposed mucous membranes protected from drying out and incidental damage.

Obviously they are laminated with brand name cling-wrap.

Travel to the Stars in our Physical Integrity Encapuslatrix system! (aka a zip-lock, bubble wrap, foil lined, noble gas infused, heavy duty, long-life body-bag). Our cybermedics will revive your team/ family/ colonists on arrival at destination a few centuries from now and the first question you'll ask is "When do we leave?" (actually, more likely "Who am I?" followed by the other 4W's).

I suspect a chemical seal of some sort is automatically included, to keep moisture in and parasites out, but additional protections would certainly be available.

I would want to be packed in bubble-wrap, so I would have several hours of entertainment after I get revived.
