I understand that part but why would you kick down the door after the looking for trouble phase. That is where I am confused.

At Listen At The Door, the player finds a Monster he could beat, but he must put it into his hand since he is drawing this card face-down and there is nothing he could legally do with it at this time. At Kick Open The Door, he doesn't find a Monster, so now, he can either Look For Trouble against the Monster he found during Listen At The Door, or he can Loot The Room and take a single face-down Treasure. Now, if the player found a Monster when he flipped over his card for Kick Open The Door, he doesn't get to Look For Trouble or Loot The Room. Therefore, he can not fight the Monster he found a Listen At The Door unless he wanders it in to the combat with the Monster from Kick Open The Door.
