Quesiton on Piercing Shriek.

It gives a +2 bonus to either side, but thats not my question. I want to know if it's second part kicks in after playing it-

If the player to your left has a lower level than you when you discard this card, he may immediately put it in his hand to use in a later combat.

Now, my friend was reading the rules in the "other items" section and saw that it ays to do what the item says and discard it. So he's saying that since I played and thus discarded it afterwards, that he, being the lowest level, gets the card.

I told him that I think that it means if I were to discard it, say as part of discarding 3 cards to get the Munchkinomicon, that then he would be able to get it.

We cant seem to come to an agreement here......

Your friend is correct. When you use it in combat, then discard the card after the combat is resolved, it goes to the player on your left if he has a lower level than you do.
