[Infinite Worlds] US annexes North America

In the unlikely event of an early incorporation of Canada into the US, wouldn't that change the balance of power in the US Congress against the slave holding states?

I'm assuming that the Canadian provinces would become States rather than be treated as conquered Territories and that they would lean to the anti-slavery cause.

If you have another half-dozen States in favour of abolition, does that make the South secede sooner or not at all?
