There is such code of honor in any 3ed book? and 4ed? Which one? At what cost?
Someone told me about such code, but didn't tell from where it was. |

Code of Honor (Pirate's) is possibly close enough.
Combine Pirate's and Soldier, basically. -5 to -10 points depending on how extreme it is. Code of Honor is one of those disads where you aren't held to any one idea or another, you can make your own. I'm not sure if there's any (Mercenary's) in particular, but I have a character that's a mercenary and has his own code of honor.

I would base it on Soldier, adding a couple of details from Professional.

Really, I don't think there's any "one good" Mercenary Code of Honor, since mercenary groups are very very dependent on who leads them...

Here's one that I cooked up for my own setting:
Code of Honor (Mercenary's): Always honor the letter of the contract. Never betray your employer while in his employ, even if offered more by the opposition. Follow the rules of war, especially in regard to unarmed civilians. Treat a skilled enemy with respect. -10 points. Thoughts on it?

In GURPS Conan for 3e there was a Mercenaries Code of Honor [-10] some thing like: once hired, stays bought, never abandon a comrade-in-arms or the standard (of the mercenary company I assume).

Ok, a friend of mine passed something like this:
Code of Honor (Mercenary) -10 Once accepted the payment, you finish your work, nothing else matters. If the situation changes a lot, you may return the payment along with an explanation and an apology. You never betrays a contractor, unless he lies to you or somehow betray you. If a contractor does not fulfill its part of the contract (after the service has been done), revenge is not only permissible, but encouraged. People should know well the price of betraying a mercenary. I understood that it was a official one (from a book), but, if it is official, I don't know from which book he took that. Someone showed me a similar one (Similar, but different in several points) from cyberpunk (stay bought I think), that was worth only -5. |

You might add that, off the battlefield, an honorable mercenary is your brother, even if you were on opposite sides of a recent war.

Quote:
Swiss mercenaries tended to look down on non-Swiss, and refused to fight against each other -- at least, in their heyday.
