Default [Action] GURPS The Laundry

I've recently put my hands in a friend's copy of Cubicle 7 The Laundry, which is a game based on the "Laundry Files" books by Charles Stross, that verse about a team of british spooks that fight against evil cults and Menaces From Beyond Time-Space of Gargantuan, Nameless Gods With an Octopus Face.

Anyway. I've always been a fan of the books, and almost fainted when touched the thing, but unfortunately, it's for Chaosium's BRP system, of which I'm not completely familiar. So, I've been thinking of converting it into GURPS, mostly by use of GURPS Action templates.

Any ideas/help/cries of "it's madness, man, don't, just don't"?

Because my only concern is that it may be harder to convert the whole thing to GURPS than to learn to play BRP. Not that i don't love converting GURPS stuff, but anyway, since I married and got kids, it's not like I have any extra time around...

AFAICT it is one of the sources for Monster Hunters, so you may want to start there.

You should be able to do a two-step conversion, from BRP to Gurps 3e Cthulhu, then to Gurps 4e.

No need for all that. BRP translates really easily to GURPS. You can mostly just eyeball it.

Yeah, that's what I thought. Most BRP Professions translate easily into GURPS Templates, while BRP's Assignment and Training could provide specific GURPS lens for each branch of service of the Laundry.

Also, what do you think for starting characters totals: 150, 200 or the "usual" professional package of GURPS Action with 250 points?

Monster Hunters, you say? Guess I'll have to make a brief stop at e23...

Thanks, people. If I start something until tomorrow I'll post here for more suggestions.

As I just listend to the Laundry audiobooks, besides Monster Hunters an edition of GURPS Horror should come in handy and the Ritual Path Magic from MH could likely be adapted quite well to fit the Setting, either eyeballed or with some help from Thaumatology.

Already on MH. Yeah, I guess modified Ritual Path will do.

250 would probably do it. One thing I'd do is use path magic, probably with spells defaulting to Mathematics. And no magery required. Anyone who can wrap their head around the math can cast "spells." You have a lot of techno-magery stuff too. And critical failures would be NASTY.

You forgot to mention that they even win battles with their true enemy, human resources.

I wonder if the templates in MH4 will be easily adaptable for this purpose or not?
