Balanced, in this case, means it will go faster. With more classes and races players will be more powerful to fight monsters.

Yeah then I'm skipping it for a while at least, if not completely. I don't want faster/easier/more powerful. I like the game as it is.

Hi I currently have Munchkin Deluxe with M2 & M3, i'm skipping out M4-5 for now and just ordered M6-8, do you guys think i'll run into problems? if so which cards do you suggest me to take out or how will i build multiple decks out of more than 600 cards?
i'm just worried that i'll have too many cards and might not be able to use them all in one game :( |

Once you have all the fantasy cards you can comfortably run 3 games at the same time. It's a lot of cards. I only pull out a third of my fantasy cards at a time, and we still don't use half of that between 7 people.

I hope you aren't able to use them all in one game -- that would be a SERIOUSLY long game! Even I'd get bored with Munchkin after four hours of playing . . .

Part of the fun of such a huge deck is not knowing which cards are going to pop up in any given game :) It makes each game that much more different. |

In principle, it's pretty straightforward, but the details get tricky. For instance, if you have two Level 20 monsters, one goes in each deck...but you also want to try and balance Bad Stuff, and you have to watch out for cards that interact with other cards (like the Sword of Slaying Everything Except Squid and Squidzilla). GUALs split pretty easily, but some of them have special effects to consider. If there are an odd number of Elf Race cards, the Elf Hireling can compensate in the "short" deck, but you want to make sure to split the Hirelings between both decks instead of clumping 'em all together in the same one. Like I said, it gets to be more of an art than a science. That's why I've got one uberdeck (all the classic Fantasy stuff) and a separate set that I've split, so I don't have to join and resplit the deck to play a Big Deck game. Oh, as for Munchkin 6: I treat it like a booster and put one copy in each of the split decks, but unlike a booster, I put two sets of Portal cards in the big deck. The extra set of Dungeons is stored away as spare insta-replacements. |

I just shuffle them all together as best I can, and then after a game I set aside the cards that get played in that game, and the next game we start from where we left off until the pile is too small to sustain a single game. Then I re-shuffle. Lather, rinse, repeat.

'Cause of the way I designed my box, I have four stacks of Doors and 3 of Treasures, so without shuffling I have 12 different combinations available.
Every so often, I pile shuffle all the cards and make 4 new stacks of Doors and 3 new Treasure stacks, just to change things up a bit. Anyway, this works both in making sure the decks aren't too huge and diversifying things a little.

Its a matter of trial and error...one week try putting more monsters in the deck than usual, more curses, more one timers, more items...whatever it is.
As long as they are going to be cards that you enjoy there shouldn't be a problem. If you weigh the deck in different directions it will certainly show in your games. (like those games where you feel like 50% of the door deck is made up of curses) Any ways just play around with it and have fun.
