Hi all:
I am new to this game but I love it. I started playing it since last weekend and now I've already got all the booster packs available in my local game store. As soon as I opened the booster pack 5 where I found the Ranger class, I cannot help but wondering now that a Ranger can tamper a monster to be his/her steep and use it against new monsters, what would then be the reason of keeping the Wizard as one of the classes in my deck? I cannot find direct reference from the manuals in box, so please correct if I am wrong: - That a Wizard can utilize his/her charm spell, discard all of his/her hand (minumum 3) to "cast away" the monster. All right, then will he/she still be able to get the Treasures? - That a Ranger can tamper the monster by matching its number of Treasures with that many discarded cards, and then obtain the control of that monster to use it as a steed of power X, X be the number of discarded cards. That's fine, will he/she still get the loot? If neither or both would get the loot, then from my perspective the Ranger is "owerpowered" Wizard in this case. Unfortunately I cannot obatain booster pack 3 which contains the Gnome race and the Bard class. Therefore what I've got are: Races (5) : Human, Elf, Dwarf, Halfling, Orc Classes (5) : Warrior, Wizard, Ranger, Thief, Cleric As we are gonna have another play this weekend and the local gamestore couldn't really get anything ordered in a week (from the States to Australia), I'd like to know if there is a proper class to replace the Wizard which gives a bit of variety in its class skills and game-playing strategy? Would the Monk class from Munchkin Fu do? Where could I have the Gnome race if I don't have booster pack 3? Thanks for the help in advance. |

The Wizard gets the loot. The Ranger does not.

Wizard also have a ability to flee monsters that cannot be overlooked.
beside if you are lucky enough to be both Wizard and Ranger you can tame a monster and then charm a second one if you have enough cards in your hand; this combo saved my life more than once. |

I guess the only other place you can get gnomes (monochromatic versions) would be the GUAL set.
But that wouldn't be a wise choice as this set is only meant to update older sets and I suppose yours are all new. There's another thing to consider other than relevancy of the class, and its the balance between number of cards x classes/races so, I wouldn't remove any of them unless they really don't go well with your group. one last thing... don't underestimate the wizard. |

Important note: The Wizard's ability to charm a Monster requires discarding your entire hand, however the Ranger's ability to make a Monster a Steed does not require hand cards; a Ranger can discard in-play cards, as well. The same can be said for the Wizard's flight spell. . . |
