The above is completely correct. Once you roll, you deal with the consequences
unless you have a card that gets you out of it (e.g.,
Magic Lamp). Whether you sacrifice your own Hireling or someone else sacrifices one for you, you can't escape the Bad Stuff you've already gotten through a failed Run Away roll.
