Gah! Mixed signals!

Depends. If the GM is into it, a Monster Hunters could focus nearly 100% on mythos-related stuff! . . . tl;dr: In the intro to MH1, I reference Horror as being useful for certain things; mythos enemies are definitely one of those things. I'm not even sure I could do a MH book on the subject without it turning into a cut-n-paste from Horror.
Alright, that sounds awesome! I'll have to pick up my copy of Horror as soon as it's out to add to the flavor of my game :-)

Physically, It's pretty much a combo of my quirks. Although I must admit something too, I didn't pay much attantion to her disads the first time around . . . hehe, a Clueless, Gullible, Low Self-Imaged person would be difficult to deal with, and probably end up making me feel like a cretin. But still, nutrient deficiencies are damn sexy!

Personality-wise, I envision her as a combination of Illyria (what Fred turned into, on Angel) and Starfire (from Teen Titans). I picture her face as kind of an adult version of this, though with a lighter complexion.

I'd like to learn more about this series. Is there more information available yet?

I'm afraid that of the 11 examples of related popular culture given in the OP, I am familiar with only one, Evil Dead.

The series is described as a "worked genre example" like DF. DF somewhat straddles a line between generic and specific. There is no set background in DF, for instance, but it comes packed with assumptions, such as magic works in the setting and what point cost the characters will be.

So I suppose my questions would include, at least,

Is there a stock setting?

Does it support play at different TLs?

Does it support PCs who are not of high point value?

Does it support PCs who lack cinematic abilities?

Would it be helpful for running a setting something like Delta Green (Call of Cthulhu) in which PCs are trained professionals, but should avoid fights with Things if they can help it?

It sounds very cool, either way, but I'd like a better grasp on it.

Greg, I can't speak for Rev Pee Kitty, but given the history of the Genre-series, I'd guess the answer to most of your questions is "No." The point of the Genre-series is to pre-fab campaign assumptions for you. If you want to do something else, you'll want a more generic book.

I expect GURPS: Horror will do what you want, however.

I'm going to have to guess on these answers since I don't have the book yet (hopefully, the first'll be out tomorrow, but maybe later). Still, they're educated guesses from what I've read on the forums, so hopefully they're correct:

RPK has definitively states 'no' on this question.

Depends on what you mean by 'support'. It's designed for TL8, but the majority of the templates can probably work at lower TLs, and the monsters, most of the MH2 GMing 'hints' and rules, etc can probably work at any TL. There probably won't be any official 'this is a TL6 monster hunter party' type stuff, though.

Yes. If I remember right, there are templates in MH4 that go all the way down to 100(?) points or so. MH1 only supports high-point value characters (400 points), but you can use the Sidekicks PDF (MH4) to create lower-point value characters.

Yes. Again, see MH4.

I'm pretty sure this is a yes; I certainly hope so at any rate, since it's how one of my own 'monster hunter' settings is going to run, though it'll have to use custom monsters for the most part for various reasons, since it doesn't have much to do with myth/etc. Again, MH2 might be useful here, but I honestly don't know how powerful the monsters are likely to be. Horror's monsters may be better suited to this, but the campaign guidelines/etc in the MH series (especially MH2) will probably be very useful for this kind of campaign.

I'm critically failing my reasearch roll. Where are you getting these details about what is in each book MH 1-4?

Thanks!

The MH1 and MH4 templates are all listed here (along with some mostly-useless info on them). I'm pretty sure the MH4 templates are all 200 points except for the two low-end templates, which are 100 points, but I'm not positive where that was mentioned - probably either this thread or the other Monster Hunters thread.

RPK has mentioned in the forums in various places (primarily this and the other MH thread) a bunch of stuff, including that the MH4 templates are less cinematic than the MH1 templates and don't use Wildcard! skills.

One of the big things mentioned being in MH2 is new investigation rules, which would definitely be useful for your Delta Green scenario. I'm not sure what else is going to be in MH2, though.

MH2 has six sample detailed settings. All are relatively brief, but are definitely enough to get the GM and players started.

MH has no complete settings.

MH4 will even offer some advice for using these options to simulate certain cinematic models; for example, if everyone agrees that "One badass champion leader plus a half-dozen sidekicks," is the game they want to play, but everyone's arguing about who gets to play the champion, MH4 will include rules for troupe-style play so that everyone gets a chance to.

Can someone link the post where someone (RPK?) talked about the different levels of "settings"?
