Default [Divine Favor] Specific Prayers by Warhammer Diety

I'm starting this thread to collect and examine ideas for using Divine Powers in a Warhammer based DF game. Sort of like Warhammer Quest really, but with more options and detail.

I'm going to base these on the prayers in Warhammer 2nd edition, but for tonight I'm just going to post some of them up with a basic outline of what I am going for. Just to get the ball rolling before I go to bed and let it ruminate.

Sigmar Heldenhammer

Hammer of Sigmar- Your hammer counts as having the Impact quality and is magical.
In WFRP 2nd the Impact quality means that you roll two dice instead of one for damage and you take the best roll. I want this to be like Spirit Weapon from Divine Favor, but instead of the burning damage I want it to be extra striking strength, only with a hammer and with double knockback for the whole damage.

Armor of Righteousness- A nimbus of power protects you from harm.
This one is fairly simple. In the original rules it is just extra armor so a direct translation would be DR with the Force Field enhancement so that the nimbus is pulling a little more protection.

Healing Hand- A touch heals an injured character.
Laying on Hands works like this as is. no new prayer needed, really.

Beacon of Courage- The power and majesty of Sigmar fills you, making you shine out like a beacon in the night.
This ability is tricky. In the original rules it strips the fear from your companions and lets them act normally. I don't know quite how to manage that though. Afflict them all with Unfazable?

Comet of Sigmar- You throw a fiery missile that takes the form of Sigmars famed twin tailed comet.
Burning Attack with No Roll Required. I think that is 15 points per die?

Soulfire- The purifying flames of Sigmar surround you as his wrath manifests on earth.
This is basically Smite. I'd add the qualifier that one die of smite is only Vs malign supernatural enemies and the other die is Vs everybody. Oh, and none of that Low Signature stuff. I think that makes Soulfire 10 points as a learned prayer instead of 9.

You can also take inspiration from some of the WH:CitOW boardgame's cards and abilities.

Really? I've been interested in CitOW, but I haven't been able to buy it just yet. What sort of things are in it that might be useful for a DF scale?

For example, Fields of Ecstasy is a divine intervention that can be used to interrupt or delay combat (probably more useful on a smaller scale than in CitOW). Tzeench can teleport both allies and enemies.

Unrelated to the boardgame, but I suppose Hermaphromorh could be granted as a way of disguising oneself (or getting a chance to corrupt a target of the 'wrong' gender), while Nurgle could send plague-like curses.

Sounds like an Aura of Courage, from the Auras of Power article, Pyramid 3.19 page 6. Levels 1-6 give a bonus to fright checks, level 7 is immunity (54 points, area 2 Aura). For Divine Favor, I'd replace the skills with Religious Ritual and instead of the Stunts to increase aura size, I'd make that an Enhanced aura.

EDIT: Or add Cosmic: No Roll Required, for beneficial auras this means they work as long as the subject is inside your Aura AND within your skill in Religious Ritual yards.

That is probably the way to go for most of what I'm going for, but what it is missing is the ability to remove the effects of an already failed fright check. Technically the ability doesn't make them braver, it just stops them from being scared already.

However, if this isn't really attainable I'd be happy to go with Aura of Courage and call it Heart of the Gryphon (which is a prayer from another WFRP sourcebook).

Unfazable is Immunity: Fear. Afflicting a victim with Immunity: Mind Control should rescue them from Mind Control Effects, so afflicting them with Unfazable should help them snap out, too. At least while the ability is up - note that the Aura is normally a maintained (and maintainable) effect so should offer protection as well.

If it's just a pulse of fear cleansing it should have the full Reduced Duration, not the limited version...
