Because it added a lot of complexity (especially to games where Fu blended with other sets) for only minimal gain.

Not having Fu is probably why I don't appreciate the complexity that's being simplified with this enhancer rule change. I'll admit though it's a rule I rarely have to make use of. Thanks for ensuring this winds up on the changes list eventually!

I don't have my card in front of me, so this question may be entirely irrelevant.. Thought. Couldn't a ranger simply beef up the monster before taming it to get the bonus? It affects the treasures on the card, and the bonus is based on 'treasures on the card'
... I do not have an updated 2010 Munchkin 5 set to reference. Nor are any changes listed in the 2010 changeover log for Munchkin 4 or 5. |

No, the Ranger's ability gives a bonus equal to the number of Treasures actually printed on the card. Modifiers don't count.

It's worth nothing that the Monster Enhancers don't change the number of Treasures on the card. They simply add more Treasure to the Monster if you defeat it, but nothing on those cards suggest that you somehow physically modify the Monster card itself, or that the number on the Monster card is changed.
