I was very excited to get the new Munchkinomicon booster in the mail today!
If you are not familiar with it, the set includes the Munchkinomicon itself (a +5 Treasure that always starts at the top of the deck) and 14 additional spell cards. These spells are in a seperate stack and are recieved each time you are able to: draw it from the treasure pile or lure it away from another player or each time you start your turn with it Now, what I am wondering, do you have to have the Munchkinomicon in your possession to play the specialty spells? |

That's a very good question. One that will require me to dig out my playtest notes, seeing as I don't have a copy of the actual booster in hand and I know Andrew has "gone dark" for at least today, so if I don't find something, you're going to be waiting a while for an official answer. I'm kind of surprised that someone out in the real world has a copy already. I know it was somehow coming very early, but not this very early. Either way, yay! :-)

In reading the playtest version of the rules, I don't see anything that would indicate, to me, that you must have the Munchkinomicon to use a Spell. In fact, the rules say that the Munchkinomicon whispers a spell to you. Now, I know that's flavor text to explain why you draw a Spell card when you have the Munchkinomicon, but I would also use that, at least at the present time, to explain why, even after you've lost the book, you remember the Spell.

My Munchkinomicon showed up today as well. We played a 3-man game with both the Munchkinomicon and Fairy Dust in play. Worked really well. Very fun, and not nearly as broken as I thought it would be.

I think my only complaint about the Munchkinomicon is that with only 14 spells, the do go kinda fast (especially if you play Epic), but that's not too bad. In the two games I've played so far, the first one we had 3 spells left in the deck, the second game had 1.

Well, that makes it sound like we should eventually have Munchkinomicon 2: More (evil) Spells, or perhaps a really good (or evil) pun built into the title. No complaints from me on that thought.

Unfortunately, i'm not going to have Munchkinomicon arrived until the end of February - our mail is far too slow.
