I didn't get any of the tippy tag vibe from those kohutovic vids at all. In fact, it felt TOO well versed if anything, with a bit much over-intent.
And having worked with feather swords, I can tell you light bruising is NOT the only thing we worry about. Sprains and broken fingers are very common. I was struck on the head (wearing a mask even) at just under the speed they were practicing at and saw stars. Edges can get nicks during play and act as saws. The threshold between a bruise on the side of my knee and me being unable to fence for some time is quite small.
