Player A fights Monster M (holding 3 treasure) with the help of Player B in exchange of 2 treasure and a certain Item X Player A is carrying. After the agreement, Player A (a warrior) uses his warrior ability and decides to discard Item X for +1 bonus combat strength. Of course, Player B disagrees loudly because the discarded Item X was promised to him. They finally kill the monster and Player B receives 2 treasure, but obviously not Item X. Now, as Player A, this seems to be a case of indirectly not keeping (no pun intended) your part of the deal. A direct way of not keeping your part of the deal would be to just not give the promised item, even if you still have it the moment you decide Player B doesn't get it. Don't get me wrong, I agree the latter - that is, just saying 'nah you're not getting the promised item' - is or should be illegal. But, to be honest, I am quite surprised people here don't find situation described above 'very Munchkinly' etc. On the contrary, it is frowned upon! I'd really like your thoughts on this. |
