using Cheat cards

Hello,

I've done a search of this forum but not found an answer to a situation I was in when playing with some friends last week. (we do tend to argue a lot when playing).

First, I was faced with the Ghoul Fiends. I claimed that with a cheat card, I could use the item I was using the cheat card on, specifically for that purpose, since the cheat card says that it allows you to use an item that is against the normal rules. The normal rule would be that you cannot use an item against Ghoul Fiends, but the cheatcard ought to have bended the rule. I was, unfortunately outvoted, but I was hoping for some views on the matter.

Also, my friends would not allow me to use a cheat card to use one of THEIR items, whereas I argued that it WOULD be possible to use the card that way. It would be against the normal rules to use another persons items, but the cheat cards negate the normal rules, right? (was outvoted on that one too).

Your friends are very wise. You are completely wrong about how the Cheat! card works, and if you searched this forum, how did you miss this?
