Default Munchkin Fu unresolved combat

When Opening the door i revealed a Level 2 Fox Spirit. I was on level nine so beating it wins me the game.

I was comfortably beating it when someone played 'Spirit Mirror'
"Play during any combat to make one monster friendly. it cannot be slain, so it is worth no levels. The munchkins fighting it will get its treasure unless they flee from other monsters in the same combat. Usable once only."

I retorted with 'Stunt Double'
"Play during any combat. Another monster appears, of the same Level and with all the same bonused. If the monsters are defeated, draw treasure for each and go up levels for each. If player flees, he is at -1 to Run Away."

So my question, is the Spirit Mirror considered a Bonus and effective on the new monster. Thus meaning all i did was double my treasure? (which by the way was removed through a -5 to level of monster card!) Or cause the Spirit Mirrors only effects one monster, can i still defeat the 2nd and win the game?

Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated

Once the 'spirit mirror' card was dealt the combat would have ended as you were not battling it anymore. This should have prevented any more cards being played and your turn would have ended.

Even if play was continued, in the spirit of the card being dealt, the friendly monster would have been cloned and another friendly monster produced.

Either way, turn would have ended without a level being gained and the game would proceed as normal.

Minikeg... one of my opponents in the game in question...

sad thing is that argument is MY argument against myself. which no one brought up in the hour of argument at the end of the game.

Haha the game is paused awaiting a response.

Regardless of who brought up the argument originally, its valid.

Except, Minikeg seems fairly incorrect about a few things, so you might want to wait a little longer for my official response. . .

Aww come'on I read and wrote that response in less than a minute... lol. Either way we would like a fair 7th opinion and that's why we are here...

Hmmmm. Not completely right, Minikeg. . .

The first Monster is essentially gone because of Spirit Mirror (similar to Pollymorph Potion from Munchkin), but that doesn't immediately end the combat. Assume that the Fox Spirit is gone, so it can't be doubled with Stunt Double, however a Wandering Monster could still be added.

Secondly, combat ending doesn't end your turn unless you died during it. After combat, whether won or lost, the player may do any of the things one may normally do during any time or during one's turn, like playing Items or trading, selling, etc. Only once the player reaches the point where he can't do anything more and has to determine which hand cards to give away/discard for Charity (assuming he must) does his turn end once those cards (if any) are dealt with.

Kroony: So, for your current situtation, Fox Spirit can't be duplicated since it's been removed from the combat, but a Wandering Monster can be added back to the combat. Assuming you can't bring a Monster into the combat, then combat ends, you get the Treasure, deal with that Treasure, then do whatever you want until you determine that your turn is over.

Yes, and you wrote the response based on what you already assumed to be true. I, however, felt there was research to be done to confirm what I already thought to be the way Andrew and I agreed on how things should work

In all honesty, you both came here for an official response, and you're lucky that, during my vacation, I took some time to check the forums while awaiting the brewing of coffee. I contemplated not turning on my laptop at all this morning. . . :-)

The 'turn ended' was poorly written by me I guess, however /all/ usable cards had been used. So what I should have written was the 'combat ended', not the turn.

Thanks for your wisdom over morning coffee, its 1am almost here and the game was left set up and will be resumed at a later date. If kroony packs the pieces up, it will be him who forfeits the game :-) admitting defeat to the 4 of us...

Thanks again :)
