That's because the helper never gets to make the decision whether to continue fighting or try to Run Away, so there's no ambiguity. If the main fighter decides to Run Away, the Stoned Golem will ignore the munchkins (unless one or both are Halflings, in which case the Golem does not ignore the Halfling(s), as the card specifies).

This is not an accurate ruling, and if you can find a cite, I'd like to see it so we can correct it there. (I did a quick search and did not find such a reference.)

"When you fight Monsters, you fight them all. Yes, you can use special cards and abilities to remove a Monster, but you still have to fight all the Monsters together. There are very few exceptions where a Monster can be ignored (Stoned Golem), but they are exceptions."

Also, the FAQ itself says "Likewise, the Stoned Golem makes a bad Wandering Monster because the victims can just ignore it."

It doesn't say "the Stoned Golem makes a REALLY bad Wandering Monster because the victims can just ignore it and the monster it was added to, both".

And I can assert that SJ wrote that FAQ entry and we left it untouched when we did the FAQ edits.

I'm a bit confused by this post so could someone explain it for those like me who are a bit slow! My understanding is below

To me this is simply saying that if the monster is added to a fight as a wandering monster then it can be ignored. However that does not apply to the question in this thread as the person has chosen not to ignore it therefore it is going to fight.

I'm going to have to discuss this with TPTB. Thread closed until we can get a resolution.
